Who we are

donttrade, a one-person research practice in Canada, published under a pen name. Contact: donttrade.research@gmail.com.

This site

  • The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log visitors’ IP addresses for security; see GitHub’s privacy statement.
  • This site sets no cookies.
  • This site runs no analytics.
  • Your light/dark choice is stored only in your own browser.

Forms and email

  • Forms are hosted by Tally, which is EU-hosted; see Tally’s privacy policy. Each submission is also emailed to us.
  • The firm form (also used by platforms and journals applying to partner) asks for a work email, firm type and what you’re interested in; your name or handle, firm name and what you want measured are optional.
  • The trader waitlist asks for an email and which founding price to reserve; the platform or journal you use is optional. No phone numbers are collected.
  • Tally is based in the EU; Google (Gmail), GitHub and Substack are US companies, so what you send may be stored or processed outside Canada.
  • Email is handled by Gmail (Google).
  • The newsletter runs on Substack; see Substack’s privacy policy.

What we do with what you send

  • We use it to reply, scope the work and invoice.
  • Enquiries that don’t lead to an engagement are deleted within 12 months.
  • Engagement records are kept for as long as Canadian tax law requires (six years).
  • Waitlist addresses are used once, to announce the launch, then deleted unless the person buys.
  • Nothing is sold; we use GitHub (hosting), Google (Gmail), Substack and Tally only to run the site, email, the newsletter and forms.

Client data

We never receive account records, only the aggregate counts the script prints.
